Cubs non-tender Simon
CHICAGO -- The Cubs on Saturday did not tender a contract to first baseman Randall Simon and were expected to sign catcher Michael Barrett. Teams had until Saturday to decide whether to offer contracts to unsigned players on the 40-man roster. Any player not retained as a result of a non-tender will be granted free agency.

The Cubs were interested in keeping Simon, but he would've had to accept a part-time role because the team added first baseman Derrek Lee.

I hope we do find a way to keep this guy, but it's doubtful if he's on the market.
