Michigan GOP asks for governor's travel records
LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- The Michigan Republican Party has used the state's Freedom of Information Act to obtain copies of Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm's travel records.

Copies of the records, obtained Thursday by The Associated Press, show Granholm has traveled slightly fewer miles and spent slightly less on travel during her first 11 months in office than did her Republican predecessor, Gov. John Engler, during the same January through November period in 2001 and 2002.

State GOP spokesman Jeff Stormo said Thursday that he made the request Nov. 13 after the governor began holding a series of budget forums with citizens statewide to discuss how to deal with a $920 million shortfall.

"At a time when we needed to save money, we wanted to see if she was doing what she was asking other people to do," Stormo said.

So, instead of working for the citizens of Michigan and helping to solve the budget crisis, the Republicans were busy looking for "issues" to bash the governor with. Typical of the Republican Party. If they can't be in power, then they have to try to thwart the progress of someone who is just doing their job. After critizing Granholm's tour of the state in the first place, it's obvious to me that the Republicans care nothing about hearing the voice of the citizens of Michigan, they only care about serving their own power mongering self interests.
