Santo resting, recovering
Santo, 63, the former Chicago Cubs third baseman and current WGN Radio broadcaster, is recovering from a surgical procedure Oct. 28 to remove cancerous tumors on his bladder. The tumors were discovered during a routine physical, and Santo had to miss most of the Cubs postseason games to prepare for the operation.

Santo has endured his share of offseason operations the last three years. In December 2001, he had one leg amputated below the knee because of complications with diabetes. After the 2002 season, he had to have the other leg amputated, also because of diabetes. The bladder cancer is not diabetes-related, he said.

Even if they cut Ron up into little itty bitty peices, he will find a way to make it to next year. Hang in there Ron!
