Yahoo! News - Favre Overcomes Emotional Loss to Lead Packers to Victory
OAKLAND, Calif. (Reuters) - Brett Favre overcame the emotional loss of his father to complete his first six passes for two touchdowns to set the Green Bay Packers on their way to a 41-7 win over the Oakland Raiders Monday.

Favre had considered taking the night off but remained focused enough to throw for four touchdowns, all scored in a first-half in which he amassed a personal-high 311 yards.

He finished the game with 399 yards, finding 12 different receivers while earning the highest quarterback rating of his 13-year career. With the victory, the Packers (9-6) pulled level with the Minnesota Vikings (news) in the NFC North Division to remain in the hunt for a playoff spot.

"I didn't expect this type of performance," a teary-eyed Favre said. Asked about his decision to play, he said: "I knew my dad would want me to play. I love him so much and I love this game.

"I know he was watching."
