Granholm continues focus on economy in speech to newspaper group
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Jennifer Granholm told members of the Michigan Press Association there must be changes at the national level to make it less attractive for companies like Electrolux AB to uproot desirable manufacturing jobs from Michigan.

The Democrat said she plans to use the National Governors Association to develop a consensus for trade-policy change.

"If you've got other countries that are subsidizing health care and pension benefits, if you're competing against countries that are paying a fraction of our minimum wage, there is no way we're going to be able to retain these jobs here," the governor said after her speech. "So that's why we need to make changes at the federal level."

She still hasn't been very specific about what those 'changes' would entail. Does it involve using the dreaded "t" word?

No way this administration does anything to curtail the greed of their big business buddies.

Reminder: Granholm on Sunday, 10am, To The Point- WOOD TV8 with Rick Albin. Rick seems to lean "sensible conservative"; it might be interesting to hear her challenged on some of her proposals.
