Jordan's MPs refuse to disallow names like Osama, Saddam
AMMAN, Jordan -- Jordan's parliament yesterday rejected a proposal to allow the state to ban parents from giving their children controversial names, such as Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein.

Yesterday's bill was rejected following a heated debate in which some legislators argued that the ban violated the privacy and constitutional rights of Jordanians.

Did they consider banning the name "George", too?
