WOODTV.com & WOOD TV8 -Granholm to propose discount drug card in State of the State address
Lansing, Mich.-AP, January 25, 2004, 1:32 p.m.) About 200,000 Michigan residents who don't have prescription drug coverage will be able to get a discount on medicine under a plan Gov. Jennifer Granholm will propose in her State of the State address on Tuesday.

The Democratic governor wants to give a free prescription
discount card to residents who qualify. The proposal isn't expected to cost the state anything becausenegotiations with drug makers will generate savings, Genna Gent, Granholm's director of communications, said Sunday.

The amount of the discount will reflect the number of people who
participate in the program, Gent said, and there will a higher
discount if there are more people in it.

"Residents who qualify". I'll bet that doesn't mean me. It never does. Perhaps when I lose my job and my house I'll be worthy of health care.
