WOODTV.com & WOOD TV8 - Grand Rapids news and weather - Travel not advised in West Michigan
The blizzard warning for Muskegon, Ottawa, Kent, Allegan and Barry counties has been changed to a winter storm warning as of 9 PM.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until noon tomorrow for Lake, Mason, Oceana, Newaygo, Montcalm, Ionia, Eaton, Calhoun, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties.

The heavy snow showers and strong gusty winds will gradually be dying down tonight. Until then, visibilities will occasionally be reduced to just a few yards in the heavier snow showers and wind gusts to 30 mph or higher. An additional 1-4 inches of snow is likely overnight.

Channel 8 has dubbed this "Blizzard 2004". It looks like another 6 inches fell last night. I hope to get some pictures today- straight line winds have etched the trees in snow and they are beautiful.
