WOODTV.com & WOOD TV8 - Granholm plans to help Greenville community
Governor Jennifer Granholm says she isn't going to let Michigan's manufacturing jobs go without a fight.

Like many of the 2,700 Electrolux workers who were told their jobs are moving to Mexico, Governor Granholm is angry. "Michigan is a manufacturing state," said Granholm. "I'll be darned if we're going to let all those jobs just go to India or Mexico or China."

Ummm, how do you propose to stop them, Jennifer?

Later tonight, the governor will join the Electrolux task force to outline strategies for that new beginning. The group's new priorities include using job training monies to retrain Electrolux workers, and convincing other companies to locate in Greenville. Governor Granholm says the state can help in both areas, providing programs and funds for employment education. "We can also put a plan together to market Greenville to other manufacturers or an other employer," said Granholm.

And you can bet that employer won't be paying $15 an hour.
