Hammonds, Giants chill Cubs
MESA, Ariz. -- Kirk Rueter gave up two hits over two innings and Jeffrey Hammonds hit a grand slam to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 9-3 victory Thursday over the Chicago Cubs in the Cactus League opener.

Matt Clement (0-1) took the loss on a drizzly day that felt more like April in Chicago with a game-time temperature of 46. He gave up three runs on four hits and one walk over two innings.
