Yahoo! News - N.Y. Mayor to Abide by Gay Marriage Ruling
ALBANY, N.Y. - The mayor of a college town said he would abide by a ruling that temporarily barred him from performing more same-sex marriages, but was considering his legal options.

In New York, Justice Vincent Bradley issued a temporary restraining order against Jason West, the 26-year-old mayor of New Paltz, at the request of the Florida-based Liberty Counsel, which acted on behalf of a local resident.

A Florida-based group comes into New York, an Arizona-based group comes into California. The AFA, which lists a Mississippi address as their contact, wrote the legislation currently on the Michigan floor.

America, are we going to let various Christian right-wing groups write legislation for us? Do you want them to come into your community and change your laws? In most instances of state amendments, you will find these groups with a politician in their pocket- they are writing the words and putting them in the mouths of those introducing these proposals.

These people are powerful, have deep pockets, and probably will not stop with the gays- if they succeed at beating us down they will start on women next (right to choose) and perhaps even people of color after that.

Makes me wonder who they will pick on if the gays are successful in establishing equal rights.
