Cubs lead early, but lose to Cards
CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs are letting their frustration show.

The Cubs surrendered a six-run lead Tuesday as the St. Louis Cardinals rallied for an 11-8 victory behind Albert Pujols' 5-for-5 day.

Pujols belted an RBI double and three home runs, including a two-run blast in the ninth inning, to power the Cardinals, who opened a 10-game lead in the Central Division with the win. Tuesday's game was the regular-season finale between the two rivals.

"I guess at this point, we're glad we're not playing them anymore," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said. "This is a very devastating, tough loss."

Yesterday was the day that I lost hope for the Cubs. To blow a six run lead, to have Hawkins go off and throw a temper tanturm, to turn the talk to "wild card" and concede defeat....it all just shows that this team doesn't have the cool and confidence to be champions.

I have to look at Dusty now, sorry. Yes, he is a great manager. Yes, I respect his knowledge of the game.. But these guys are out of control emotionally, and I don't see him making changes to shake things up a bit. I believe a good manager demands his team to be professional at all times, and all Dusty is doing is making lame excuses.

There are still a lot of games left, and anything could happen, but at this point I'm not seeing the spark that a winning club has to have to contend.
