Cubs let one get away late
CHICAGO -- Matt Clement's tough luck continued Friday.

Clement (7-9) remained winless in his last seven starts, going 0-5 in that stretch. The right-hander gave up three runs on eight hits -- including Geoff Jenkins' solo homer -- over 6 1/3 innings.

Clement tried to help himself with an RBI single. The right-hander needed the offense. The Cubs had scored five runs when he was in the game in his six previous starts.

"It's amazing the starts he's had and pitched so well and we haven't been able to get the runs to win the ballgame," Cubs catcher Michael Barrett said. "I haven't seen anything like it."

I'm about ready to send the guy some flowers or something.
