Yahoo! News - Congress to Hold Hearings on 9/11 Reform
WASHINGTON - Senate and House committees will hold an unusual round of August hearings on intelligence reform after leaders of the Sept. 11 commission warned that America remained vulnerable to another deadly terror strike.

"The American people expect us to act," Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, chairwoman of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, said Friday. "We don't have the luxury of waiting for months."

But we did have the luxury of waiting three years? If I'm not mistaken, wasn't this the same commission that George "America is Safer" Bush dragged his feet over for months on end? Tried to block it's inception? Fought over who would be interviewed, and when, and how they would be interviewed? Didn't want to extend the time the commission needed to do the job? Hmmmm? Wasn't that him?

In its blistering report Thursday, the panel of five Republicans and five Democrats cited multiple intelligence failures that contributed to the deadliest terror attack in U.S. history. The unanimously endorsed report could spell trouble for Bush, who has made his handling of terrorism the centerpiece of his campaign.

And I can think of some great commercials that would highlight the dubious nature of the claim, "America is safer". Have you noticed that the Kerry camp is not leaning towards "attack ads"? While I applaud the choice to take the "high road", I suddenly feel the need to point out Bush's glaring hypocrisy.
