Yahoo! News - Kerry, Frank attack anti-gay GOP tactics
BOSTON -- He didn't use the "g" word or the "m" word, but Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry on Thursday night landed an unmistakable punch against President Bush's efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban gay couples from marrying.

And U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, who didn't stick to his party-vetted speech, also came out swinging against the Republican's Party's anti-gay agenda during his remarks at the Democratic National Convention podium Thursday evening.

At 6:20 p.m. Thursday, before prime-time coverage, Rep. Frank took to the podium to a strong ovation by an already crowded arena. Departing liberally from the language of his vetted prepared text, Frank said that there is a "gay agenda" and that it includes equal rights for gay people in jobs, military service and marriage, as well as concern for the environment, access to health care, cooperation with other nations and concern for working people.

"Some of those things we believe because, particularly, we are gay and lesbian," said Frank. "To be honest with you, we don't know why we are, we just are. But we do know why we are Democrats.

I guess you could call us "Good Dog Democrats", Barney. If we lie down and roll over, maybe you guys will throw us a bone.
