Yahoo! News - Gays in GOP call platform 'slap in the face'
The Republican Party will unveil a platform at its national convention in New York City that includes even more extreme anti-gay language than an earlier draft version contained, a move called "vicious and mean-spirited" by the leader of the nation's largest gay GOP group.

In addition to a call for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, GOP officials have added new language to the party's platform which says judges should not force states to "recognize other living arrangements as equivalent to marriage."

"They're not just trying to prevent civil marriage equality," said Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) Executive Director Patrick Guerriero in a statement. "They want to marginalize part of the American family by barring not just marriage but also civil unions, domestic partnerships and indeed any benefits or protections for gay and lesbian families."

"The vicious, mean-spirited language adopted by the Platform Committee is a slap in the face to fair-minded Republicans all across our nation," said Guerriero.

I don't see how any gay person can remain in the Republican Party at this point. Shoot, I don't see how anybody with a brain can remain in the Republican Party at this point.
