Yahoo! News - Boston Fans Finally Celebrate Red October
ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - The Boston Red Sox lifted a championship and buried a curse Wednesday, turning fantasy into reality with a stirring World Series victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

In a match staged under a total lunar eclipse, Johnny Damon homered and Derek Lowe pitched seven shutout innings in a 3-0 victory which completed a four-game sweep in the best-of-seven series.

Since Harry Frazee sold Babe Ruth to the hated New York Yankees in 1920, Boston has not celebrated a World Series champion team.

But this October the Red Sox appeared more charmed than cursed, starting with an unprecedented comeback win over the Yankees in the American League championships series and on through a World Series in which they never once trailed.

The final out came just as the moon was coming out of totality. Cool, weird stuff. Way to go BoSox! I'm so happy for them and their fans. Now, to face the long dark winter without baseball....
