Yahoo! Sports - MLB - Garciaparra files for free agency
CHICAGO (AP) -- Nomar Garciaparra filed for free agency Friday, starting the bidding process for the All-Star shortstop.

Catcher Paul Bako, outfielder Tom Goodwin and outfielder Ben Grieve also filed for free agency Friday.

Garciaparra has said he'd consider returning to Chicago, and general manager Jim Hendry has already spoken with his agent, Arn Tellem. But Garciaparra also wants to test the free-agent market for the first time in his career.

Wonder what the numbers will be to sign him. I don't care about the injuries, I want him back. I think we have a good chance because I believe that he will want to play for a contender- missing the Series while his old team won must have stung a bit, now he has something to prove. Just like Sammy. These two ego maniacs might be pissed off enough to have the best season of their lives.
