PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks are starting to shorten their list of managerial candidates, and Mark Grace is out of the running for the job.

Grace said he was informed of the team's decision Thursday but hopes to remain with the organization as a broadcaster, minor-league manager or coach on the staff of the new Diamondbacks' skipper.

"I still have a plan and vision and hopefully someday, I will be a major-league manager,'' said Grace, who ended his 16-year career with Arizona in 2003. "We'll just let things take their course.''
