WOODTV.com & WOOD TV8 - Longer response time by firefighters hinders effort to battle Wyoming fire
A garage was destroyed and the attached home was damaged by fire in Wyoming Monday morning, and firefighters say recent budget cuts made the situation worse than it needed to be.

The nearest fire station to the home is on Gezon Parkway, but closed in September due to budget cuts. So fire crews had to come from the central station in order to battle the fire.

Many homeowners in the area say they voted against the millage which would have kept the Gezon Parkway fire station open. However, they say they would have voted differently now.

Uh-huh. NOW they understand. What did they think was going to happen?
