Yahoo! News - Bush Nominates Gonzales to Replace Ashcroft
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush nominated as his new attorney general on Wednesday the top White House lawyer, Alberto Gonzales, a son of migrant workers who rose to become a Bush confidant and helped shape legal opinions about prisoner treatment in the war on terror.

If confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate, the Texas-born Gonzales, 49, would be the first Hispanic-American to become the country's top law-enforcement official.

Torture. It's not just for terrorists anymore. I think Bush picked him because he is the only guy who is actually shorter than the President. (ok, short joke there, boooooo....)

On a serious note, I can't wait for the day when people are not defined by "the first Hispanic, woman, African-American, albino", etc. etc. etc., on and on. They're just people, not a race or sex or preference.
