Yahoo! News - Ex-Envoy Bremer Hails Iraq Vote as Great Victory
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iraq's former U.S. governor, Paul Bremer, praised Iraq's election as a victory for democracy Monday and said it had proved the skeptics wrong.

Bremer was exuberant over the election Sunday in Iraq, which, while marred by some attacks, had a greater turnout than expected and was immediately declared a success by President Bush.

"It's a great victory for the Iraqi people, for democracy and for the (U.S.) president's message of freedom," said Bremer in an interview with NBC's "Today" show.
