CHICAGO -After months of speculation, a career spanning thirteen seasons has ended on the North Side. The Cubs have traded OF Sammy Sosa to the Baltimore Orioles, reportedly in exchange for INF Jerry Hairston Jr. and prospects.

Executives told the Associated Press the Cubs would pay a good portion of Sosa's $17 million salary this season. Sosa would then void his salary for 2006, which includes either an option for $18 million or a $4.5 million buyout.

Glad he's going to an AL team. Don't want this to bite us on the ass if he decides to have a record year. Wish we could have gotten a dependable CLOSER though. What's up with that, Mr. Hendry?
