Play Like There's No Tomorrow

One game back, two games left. Crunch time.

And West Michigan's phenom Nick Castellanos is three hits away from tying Robert Fick's hit record for a Whitecaps single season, as the team faces a do-or-die game today at 5th3rd as they try and claw their way into the Midwest League playoffs. Last night's game ended in controversy - hopefully that will fire up the guys to come out swinging and set up the decisive game for tomorrow.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, you are looking at the Tigers third baseman of the future. He's batting .310 on the year and has fielded his position very well. The DNews seems to think he will be up to the majors next year, but being only 19 and one year out of high school, you have to hope they don't rush him too fast. Maybe a path like they did with Turner; start at Erie and see what happens. He's been fun to watch, and I'm looking forward to seeing him climb the ladder.

Let's go Caps!

Update: Caps win 10-3(!), Castellanos ties Robert Fick's record on a 3-4 day. They gave him the ball, and he turned and threw it up into the stands.

One down, one to go...
