One of my favorite pictures of the bridge, just because it's not a traditional side view that you usually see from the parks. I stood as close as the fence would allow me, up and away from the growing crowd of walkers, and just marveled at the scene. The lighting was interesting - a tinted pink, the sun trying to break through that gray dawn, as thousands of people began the trek to the other side. Even better in 1000 px for more detail.
I was going to post a bunch of links to the "state of Labor" today, or more facts and figures about the growing inequality in our economy, or maybe the hoopla surrounding the President's speech in Detroit, but I think I'll let you find that stuff on your own. It's out there if you so choose.
For me, I'm thinking about that bridge, as I always do on Labor Day. And I'm hoping that I get to do the walk again sometime. For now, I'll leave you with this...
... in honor of the memory of the workers across the nation who gave everything to make this country a better place.
Hope that everyone has a great holiday today. Take some time to remember the reason why it exists.
