Coit Tower. Went to the big city for some cool sunset pics, unfortunately it stayed pretty cloudy. Did manage to get this one of the legendary tower before I headed back home. We finally got some much needed rain here this weekend; everything is turning green and the flowers are starting to bloom...
One line struck me today.... Ezra, talking about the Republicans doing everything they can to block Obamacare from being implemented:
Their slogan, “repeal and replace,” has given way to “resist and annoy.” Unable to get rid of Obamacare, many have settled on a strategy of making it function as poorly as possible. At the national level, House Republicans have refused to appropriate funds for implementation. At the state level, most Republican governors have refused to set up insurance exchanges, and many have refused to expand Medicaid.
It isn't just health care. It's every issue imaginable.
It's the way Republicans govern when they are out of power - obstruct, deny, lie, drag your feet, take hostages, break everything you possibly can - while you declare that "government doesn't work." It's number one in the playbook. Lo and behold, government doesn't work when one side has a vested interest in making sure it remains broken. Democratic leadership then looks weak, and people start to turn away. You've seen the play in the states. Now it's happening full-scale in Washington.
Other stuff- read Krugman on California. Funny how this state is starting to function again once the Republicans don't have the power screw it up. There is a really big hint here for the rest of the nation to follow.
One other thing: Play Ball!
Off to the day...
