WOODTV.com & WOOD TV8 - Grand Rapids news and weather - Gay marriage ban proposal will be on November ballot
(Lansing, September 3, 2004, 12:10 p.m.) A proposal to ban gay marriage in Michigan will be on the ballot come November.

In July, the Citizens for Protection of Marriage turned in over 400,000 petition signatures supporting a vote on an amendment to ban gay marriage in the state. But in August, the Board of Canvassers was deadlocked on two issues. several members thought a ban would be unconstitutional and the wording of the proposal could be used to end benefits for same sex couples that already exist.

The Court of Appeals said Friday that the Board of Canvassers didn't have the authority to make any of those decisions. That means a proposal defining marriage as only between a man and a woman will be on the ballot in November.

Fuck. Get ready for more gay bashing.
