MLive.com: NewsFlash - Bill requiring Pledge of Allegiance moves to state House
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan's K-12 public schools may soon be required to offer a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance each school day.

A bill headed for the state House would require school districts to provide an opportunity to say the pledge, but specifies that students can't be forced to participate if they don't want to or their parents object.

An estimated 35 states already have a similar requirement, according to an analysis by the Senate Fiscal Agency.

What? You don't want to participate, little boy? Let's make a note in your permanent school record, shall we?

Welcome to the new improved America, where patriotism is not a choice, it's the law!
