MI House passes bill to preserve business tax credits
Well, whaddayaknow about that. Maybe I'll stop yelling at them for a minute.

Just a minute though. No longer.

LANSING, Mich. - The state House continued working Wednesday to safeguard economic development incentives in Michigan related to a business tax expected to lapse at the end of 2007.

The House unanimously passed a measure that would retain some historic preservation and brownfield tax credits related to the Single Business Tax. The legislation would allow companies whose credits are not scheduled to mature until 2008 or 2009 to take their credits against their 2007 SBT liability, giving the credits value even after the tax expires.

Last week, Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm urged lawmakers to act quickly on measures related to tax incentive promises tied to the SBT. Republican legislative leaders responded that several of those measures, including the one passed Wednesday, already were in the works.

Looks like we will have to do this piece-by-piece, eh guys?

Interesting thing about this story- it came to me from the Fort Worth (TX) Star Telegram before any Michigan papers. Go figure.
