It's midnight, October 1st

UPDATE-We have a continuation budget!  More details to follow when I'm not typing on my phone:)-djtyg

Do you know where your government is?

Neither do I.

Both bodies are signing back in-

Minutes before midnight, Granholm's spokeswoman Liz Boyd said the governor won't sign off on a deal until the Senate completes action on the two tax bills passed by the House.

The state already had put some components of a shutdown in place before midnight. Some highway rest stops were barricaded, campers were told to leave state parks and at least one state drawbridge in Detroit had been placed in the up position and left unmanned.

But the Legislature clearly was planning to work past the deadline and if the final elements of the deal are in place, most state workers could be on the job by the time the regular workday starts this morning.

Senate Republicans said they wouldn't vote on the two tax increases until the House also passed a measure to open up teacher health insurance to more competitive bidding.

The House did pass the MESSA bill- so it looks like this will get done- but again it's up to Bishop.

Sorry, should have said that.
