The National Enquirer broke the news in its new print edition, reporting that the iconic Detroit singer has pancreatic cancer, regarded as one of the deadliest of cancers.
According to MyFoxDetroit.com, a relative of Franklin's told Al Allen that Franklin has cancer.
The news is sure to send shockwaves through the international music world, where Franklin is revered as one of the most important American artists in history.
