Dear John

This means absolutely nothing this far out, but it's funny nonetheless.

Hypothetical match-ups for Debbie Stabenow in 2012:

New polling that shows President Obama leading prospective GOP challengers among Michigan voters and U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow could be vulnerable.

In a hypothetical matchup against potential challengers, U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra fares especially well. The poll (PDF), conducted last week by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling, found Stabenow, the second-term Democratic senator from Lansing leads in several hypothetical matchups, but the margins are close.

The firm polled 1,224 Michigan residents between Dec. 3-6 and found Stabenow up 45-44 against Hoekstra, R-Holland. Stabenow leads former Secretary of State and U.S. Rep. Candice Miller 43-41 and current Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, 45-41.

And who gives Debbie a 4-6 point bump, pushing her closer to the magical 50% mark?

Matched against the oft-mentioned candidacy of former Gov. John Engler, Stabenow leads 49-42.

Dear John: We still don't like you all that much.

Wish they would have polled Dick DeVos, because I just have this feeling...
