Yahoo! News - Gay activists blamed for Salvation Army ban
Christian conservatives are demanding that shoppers boycott Target after the chain store banned Salvation Army bell ringers this year from store property. The conservative groups believe Target has bowed to pressure from gay-rights groups upset with the Salvation Army for not offering domestic-partner benefits to employees.

While not addressing the issue of homosexuality, Target said it was simply unfair to other charities to exempt The Salvation Army from its non-solicitation policy and told them at the beginning of 2004 that bell ringers would no longer be allowed to operate at Target stores.

"It's wrong to kick them out," said Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association in a quote published in the Washington Post. "It wouldn't surprise me if homosexual groups are behind this," he added.

I'm sure homosexuals will be the culprits everytime the "Christians" don't get their way. After all, we are behind every sinister, devious plot to destroy "family values" in America today! Kinda makes ya wonder why we fought so hard to join the ranks of "family" if we are trying to tear it down.

So far, no LGBT group is taking credit for The Salvation Army's exit.

Soulforce, an interfaith gay rights group that had protested the Salvation Army's policies, told the Washington Post it had not contacted Target and did not know of any other LGBT rights group that has urged Target to ban the charity.

Maj. George Hood, a spokesman for The Salvation Army, says the boycott "puts us in a weird position," because the charity does not support the boycott.

"We do not want to be the facilitator or be the source of any boycotts of Target or any negative assault against Target," Hood told the Washington Post. "They've made a business decision that we have to respect and move on."

Much ado over nothing. There are plenty of businesses that don't allow the Army, Best Buy being one of the biggest names, but I don't see them being boycotted.

Perhaps we should make a list of all the Fortune 500 companies that offer domestic benefits, and insist that the Christians boycott them, too. Pretty soon they won't be able to leave the house, and the country will be safe from their tyranny.
