Whitecaps sweep Lugnuts out of playoffs-



COMSTOCK PARK – For the second year in a row, Matt O’Brien was the winning pitcher for the Whitecaps when they eliminated Lansing. O’Brien threw five innings as West Michigan defeated the Lugnuts, 6-3 to complete a two-game sweep and advance to the Eastern Division Championship Series for the fourth consecutive year.



Last season, O’Brien was the winning pitcher when the ‘Caps completed a sweep of the Lugnuts in the EDCS.



The Whitecaps will face the winner of the South Bend versus Dayton series. The Silver Hawks forced a decisive game three on Friday by winning in Dayton on Thursday, 8-4.
