Yeah, baby. Now that's what I'm talkin' about.

Today a new internal poll released by Myers Research & Strategic Services for congressional candidate Mark Schauer (D-Battle Creek) shows the state Senator leading incumbent Congressman Tim Walberg 42% - 36%, outside the 4.38% margin of error.

"Walberg has been on the air lying about Mark Schauer's record of fighting for jobs and protecting kids for more than a month, and it's clear that people simply aren't buying what he's selling," said Schauer campaign manager B.J. Neidhardt. "There's still a long way to go before Election Day, but voters are clearly rejecting the Bush-Walberg economic policies that have devastated Michigan's economy."

The internal poll released today shows a 9-point shift in Schauer's favor since Myers' May survey. Today Schauer is known by 67% of voters, while Walberg is recognized by 76%.

"This survey demonstrates that Schauer's communications are clearly taking root," said pollster Andrew Myers. "Perceptions of Walberg's job as Congressman are unchanged and remain solidly net negative, with 34 percent saying he is doing an excellent-to-good job while a near majority, 46 percent, say fair-to-poor. Bottom line, while this race remains competitive, these voters are aligned for change and Schauer's campaign is clearly taking root."
